Ludhiana - Lok Sabha MP from Ludhiana Mr. Ravneet Singh Bittu and all the Congress MLAs today slammed the SAD-BJP alliance for totally ignoring the Ludhiana city for last ten years, due to which it has lagged behind in the process of development.
Interacting with the media persons here today Mr. Bittu said that in order to give fillip to the development of the city, the Local Government Minister Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu had laid two foundation stones in the city. However, he said that unfortunately instead of welcoming the move the BJP leaders were indulging in cheap politics over it.
Mr. Bittu said that Ludhiana was ignored from all the aspects during the SAD-BJP rule. He said that Harcharan Singh Gohlwaria was the most inefficient Mayor of Ludhiana as he didn’t bring any project in the city. He said that instead of ensuring development of the city, the Mayor remained a mere puppet in the hands of his party leadership.
The MP said that funds received for the development in the city in last five years were nowhere in sight and the funds were embezzled by the political-bureaucratic nexus. He said that the wards of Congress leaders were neglected during the alliance rule and instead of development the Mayor promoted party politics in the affairs of civic body. He said that due to the failure of the Mayor the funds meant for the development of the city by the Union government were lying unutilized.
On the occasion Congress MLAs Mr. Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Mr. Surinder Dawar and Mr. Sanjay Talwar also assailed the SAD-BJP alliance for their failure to develop the city. They demanded an independent probe into the bungling of funds by the SAD-BJP alliance. They also said that in coming time major boost would be given to the city by initiating number of projects like Smart City Project, Sports Park, Railway Overbridges, Focal Point and other.
