MORE THAN 16 LAC PERSONS SENSITIZED ON SWACHH AND SWASTH PUNJAB IN MASSIVE AWARENESS CAMPAIGN -DC REITERATES PLEDGE TO MAKE SWACHH AND SWASTH PUNJAB CAMPAIGN, A PEOPLE'S CAMPAIGN

Ludhiana - Under the able aegis of Deputy Commissioner, Team Ludhiana, continued its awareness campaign and IEC (information, education, communication)  activities for forth consecutive day, regarding Swachh and Swasth Punjab at massive scale in  Punjab Agriculture University (PAU) and Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) Ludhiana.

While giving information, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Pardeep Kumar Agrwal said that more than 250 officials and officers of District Water Supply & Sanitation (DWSS) Department, Ludhiana including field staff, office staff and social staff, took part in this mammoth exercise.  Tata Trust (NGO) also joined the DWSS, which further strengthen the campaign. Activities like Swachhta Pledge, Signature Campaign was signed by thousands of persons, thousands other joined Swachhta Hi Sewa march, small groups  interactions and communication  by social and other staff, Swachh Bharat Mission and water conservation skits by Bhands (Traditional Comedians), songs on water supply and sanitation by Karamjit Singh were again proved to be a great crowd puller.
He said that farmers were also requested to not to burn paddy husk and sensitized on water conservation. Swachh Bharat Mission Brand Ambassador Sh. Jaswinder Bhalla adminstered the Swacchta Pledge to thousands of Persons. Prominent persons like Dr. B S Dhillon, Vice chancellor, PAU and other senior faculty members also took Swachhta Pledge.Campaign got amazing and overwhelming response from farmers, students, women, police and para-military personnel.

He further said that DWSS Ludhiana delivered Swachhta Message to more than 11 Lac persons (Predominately Rural Community Farmers - our major target group of SBM Punjab), through PAU Ludhiana's massive network. District Administration is highly thankful to PAU authorities for allowing us to use its vast network. We are indebted to Dr. Tejinder Singh Riar, Prof. of Extension Education, PAU, Ludhiana for spearheading this massive communication initiative. We have no words to express our gratitude, for his spectacular contribution in this noble social mission. About 2 lac more farmers who have recently joined network will also get SBM message delivered. TATA Trust has also join this endeavour, reached out to 1.41 lac persons by its network, besides creating awareness in person. We also feel highly obliged by the help extended by Tata Trust, he added.
Team Ludhiana reiterated its pledge to make Swachh and Swasth Punjab campaign, a People's campaign.
