Italy’s multi-utility Hera Group has evinced interest in setting up an industrial waste conversion project in Punjab on BOT basis.

Encouraged by the industry-friendly policies of the Captain Amarinder led government, Italy’s multi-utility Hera Group has evinced interest in setting up an industrial waste conversion project in Punjab on BOT basis.
This was conveyed to Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh by a high-level company delegation that called on him here on Tuesday evening. In their presentation to the Chief Minister, the delegation suggested conversion of the industrial waste generated in Punjab’s major cities into energy, facilitating the state’s green transformation and helping it get rid of pollution.
On a suggestion by the Chief Minister, the delegation agreed to conduct a field study to work out a sustainable project. The delegation informed the Chief Minister that the Group would send a technical team soon to Ludhiana and Jalandhar to analyse the nature of effluent discharged from the large number of local industrial units located there and come out with a detailed proposal.
The delegation, led by Aditya Khanna, Vice Chairman of DSSI Global Limited represented the Group, said the proposed effluent treatment plant would be a state-of-the-art facility, an official spokesperson disclosed, giving details of the meeting.
