DC ALONG WITH SANJAY TALWAR AND BHART BHUSHAN ASHU MLA’S TAKES STOCK OF CETP PROJECTS -WORK OF THREE CETP’S IN CITY TO COMMENCE SOON

Ludhiana - Deputy Commissioner Mr. Pardeep Kumar Agrawal informed that the work of three CETP’s (Common effluent treatment plants) would be commenced soon. He along with MLA Mr Sanjay Talwar and Mr. Bharat Bhushan Ashu visited the project sites to discuss the project.

Deputy Commissioner issued necessary directions to concerned officials to het the work started. It is pertinent to mention here that Punjab Pollution Control Board has given the sanction of initial funds to start these projects.

There are around 260 textile dyeing industries in Ludhiana and all these industries have installed their individual effluent treatment plants but in order to monitor the pollution load of effluent of these industries at single outlet, there was proposal to install 3 CETPs of capacity 50 MLD, 40 MLD and 15 MLD, respectively for clusters of dyeing industries at Tajpur Road & Rahon Road, Focal Point and Bahadurke Road.  These projects are being set up at a cost of Rs.135 crores.

For installation of 15 MLD CETP costing Rs.23 crores, the State Govt. has sanctioned the amount and work shall start in October, 2017. Other two CETP projects of 40 MLD and 50 MLD on Tajpur Road have also already been sanctioned and work is likely to be completed in next year, he added.

Mr Agrawal stated that the State Govt. of Punjab is making all efforts to complete these projects at the earliest.  He stated that with the installation of these projects the water pollution in Budha Nallah will be controlled to a large extent.
Mr. Ashu and Mr. Talwar said that with the commencement of these projects development of city would get the boost and projects would play vital role to clean the budha nullah. They said that Punjab Government was committed to development of city and state in planned manners.
