OPPORTUNITIES ALONG WITH FINANCES MUST BE PROVIDED TO THE POOR-GOVERNOR

NOBLE FOUNDATION HONOURS 16 PROMINENT PERSONALITIES

PUNJAB GOVERNMENT DETERMINED TO UPLIFT THE SOCIALLY AND FINANCIALLY DEPRESSED SECTIONS OF THE SOCIETY –SIDHU

Ludhiana : The Governor Punjab Mr. V.P. Singh Badnore has called upon elite sections of the society to work wholeheartedly and generously to provide ample opportunities along with financial help to the poor and needy in order to ensure inclusive growth of our country.  While the Local Bodies Minister Punjab Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu said that the Punjab government was fully committed to ensure a healthy society by uplifting the socially and financially depressed sections of the society.
Mr. Badnore while addressing a gathering here on the occasion of the function organized by the NGO Noble Foundation,  said that much needs to be done in order to ensure social and financial equality in our country. He appreciated many NGOs persistently working to achieve this objective. He also lauded the services rendered by the Noble Foundation in this regard.
Referring to various welfare schemes initiated by the Central government for the poor and the needy, Mr. Badnore said that the benefit of these schemes must reach the beneficiaries so that it could bring the desired transformation in the socio-economic fabric of the country.
He also paid tributes to the great warrior Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh who dies last night and said he would be always remembered by one and all for his spectacular leadership qualities during the Indo-Pak War of 1965. He also recalled the supreme sacrifice of Lala Jagat Narain ji founder of Punjab Kesri Group of Newspapers, during India’s struggle for Freedom and later for upholding the traditions of journalism.
Speaking on the occasion, Cabinet Minister Punjab, Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu said that nobody whether an individual, a society or a country can develop till the spirit of self reliance and determination is there in it. The overall development is only possible if the citizens feel protected and safe. He reiterated that the Punjab Government was fully committed to ensure a conducive and safe atmosphere and also to ensure social and financial parity by uplifting the downtrodden and underprivileged.  He said that the youth of Punjab has been encouraged towards the skill development programmes so that this section of the society could be financially independent and become confident. The Minister also announced a grant of Rs. 10 Lakh out of his discretionary fund to the Noble Foundation.
As many as 16 prominent personalities of 6 different states, for their outstanding achievements in different fields were also honoured on the occasion. Prominent persons who were present on the occasion included, Mr. Vijay Chopra, Chief Editor Punjab Kesri Group of Newspapers, Mr. B.K.Jha Chief Commissioner Income Tax Department, Mr. Sanjay Talwar, MLA, Founder of Noble Foundation Mr. Rajinder Sharma and the officers of the district administration.
