Ludhiana, : Terming that brave soldiers were the real asset of the country, the Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Mr Pradeep Aggarwal today said that every memorial related to these brave sons of the soil would be preserved and maintained properly.
He said that in lieu of this commitment the district administration would ensure proper maintenance of memorial of Shaheed Major Bhupinder Singh at local Bharat Nagar chowk.
Presiding over the quarterly meeting of District Sainik Board here today Mr Aggarwal said that it has been noticed that the memorial was not in a good position. He said that the memorial needs to be maintained efficiently and with due care. The Deputy Commissioner directed the Municipal Corporation to make all out efforts to maintain this memorial efficiently.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed the representatives of District Sainik Welfare Board to ensure that every memorial associated with Army personnel was maintained properly. H said they if the board finds any sort of shortcomings in memorial they must bring it in the notice of district administration for its early resolution.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed the various departments of especially the Police and Revenue to dispose off the pending cases related to serving and retired Armed forces personnel. He said that any sort of callousness in dealing with such cases was totally unwarranted and undesirable. It was also decided in the meeting to identify the needy families of veterans so that they could be extended help from the flag fund. Mr Aggarwal also announced to felicitate those people who have contributed more than Rs 10,000 in flag fund.
