TEACHERS TO GET LEAVE APPROVAL ONLY THROUGH ONLINE MODE: ARUNA CHAUDHARY

PROMOTION PROCESS OF TEACHERS WON’T BE HAMPERED, DPC TO BE HELD EVERY 6 MONTHS
    MOST OF DEMANDS OF TEACHERS MET: EDUCATION MINISTER, SEEKS SUGGESTIONS
    ATTENDS FELICITATION FUNCTION OF MASTER CADRE UNION AT KOHARA

Kohara (Ludhiana),  The Education Minister, Punjab, Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary today said that the education department is making earnest efforts to ensure that the just demands of the teaching community are met as soon as possible besides addressing the problems of the teachers with regard to the department. This explains the decision to operationalize an online portal on which only, the teachers would apply and get approval for leave sitting in their homes. This would spare them the ordeal of getting leave sanctioned at various levels.
Addressing a massive gathering of teachers here during a district level felicitation function organized by the master cadre union (District Ludhiana), Mrs. Chaudhary said that on one hand, the teaching community of the state shoulders a big responsibility of providing education to the students while on the other they have to go through a lot of hardships at various levels to get their leaves sanctioned. Hence, the decision to prepare an online portal. The minister further said that the department has opened the gateway for promotions of the teaching community with the Captain Amarinder Singh led government taking charge in Punjab. Whereas the promotions of teachers pending since long have been effected, now it has been made mandatory to conduct a meeting of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) every 6 months so as to not let the promotion of any teacher being hindered. The minister also disclosed that fulfilling a long pending demand of the teachers, 4-9-14 rule has been implemented. Apart from this, the powers regarding verifying the completion of probation period of a teacher have been delegated to the level of school heads in order to make sure that the teachers don’t have to make rounds of the head office time and again.
Terming the teachers as the nation builders and the students as the future of the nation, Mrs. Chaudhary reiterated that the Punjab Government accords utmost respect to the teaching profession. The minister called upon the teachers to engage in the noble task of personality development of the students with all the more zeal and vigour apart from doing their best to give good results. She assured the teachers that the education department working is based on a transparent mechanism guided by a team of most competent officers. The ministers also sought suggestions from the teachers for further improvement in the departmental functioning.
Addressing on the occasion, senior Congress leader Mrs. Satwinder Kaur Bitti said that the Punjab Government is leaving no stone unturned to modernize education, health and basic infrastructure sector besides devoting a lot of attention to preserve glorious cultural heritage of the state. She also shared some inputs regarding education centric and various other needs pertaining to sahnewal area with the education minister.
On the occasion, teachers and students were also honoured especially. Among others present on the occasion included District Education Officer (Secondary) Mrs. Swaranjit Kaur, Deputy District Education Officer Mrs. Dimple Madaan, State Finance Secretary of the Union Mr. Jagjit Singh, District President Mr. Dharamjit Singh Dhillon and Master Jaswinder Singh Jassi.
