LUDHIANA - Clearing the air about loan waiver scheme of the Punjab government, Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Aggarwal on Wednesday said that in the first phase of scheme, the marginal farmers having agricultural land less than 2.5 acres, who have taken loans from the state cooperative banks will be given benefit of the debt-waiver.
Elaborating the scheme, Deputy Commissioner said that to identify marginal farmers who have taken loans from cooperative banks, verification was being carried out by teams of the administration at the village level in the district and soon final lists of eligible marginal farmers would be prepared.
After that, the teams would prepare the lists of small farmers having agricultural land less than 5 acres through proper verification of records and accounts, Deputy Commissioner Informed.
He further informed that in the next phase, all the small and marginal farmers who have taken loans from commercial banks will be taken.
He stated that the farmers should not get panic or misled by anyone as all eligible marginal and small farmers of cooperative And Commercial Banks would get the benefit of the scheme soon.
Pertinently, the crop loan waiver scheme will be started on January 7 with Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh
